A bit about me

I was born into an Army family, and we were stationed in Germany while the Baader Meinhof terrorist group were active, and in London during an IRA campaign. I like to tell people that I accepted that my destiny was to write thrillers when a performance of the Mikado was evacuated due to a bomb warning when I was nine. No one died or was injured, but the box of fruit gums that I’d accidentally left under her seat wasn’t there when she got back, and I never saw it again. As far as I’m aware, it was not the subject of a controlled explosion or the cause of the evacuation.

My ambition has always been to live a boring and blameless life, so I joined a large UK bank, where I specialised in fraud. (Not committing it. Obviously. Or at least if I did, then I was never caught, but who knows what I might have done because it’s always the quiet ones who turn out to be the worst, isn’t it? Luckily,  I’m not renowned for being quiet, so I’m almost certainly innocent.

I’d far rather write about other people getting caught up in situations that make no sense and doing things that they never expected to than have to do it for real. That way, I can make sure that most of my characters get the happy endings that so many people who deserve them don’t get. The ones who don’t get them didn’t deserve them, so it serves them right and planning how you’ll kill people is incredibly therapeutic.

I’d also like to believe that someone out there knows exactly what’s going on and has it all under control. Obviously, it has to be a top-secret organisation that leaves no trace of its existence because I certainly haven’t spotted any signs of them in real life, even though I’m addicted to following local and national news because all my plots are based on things that have happened in real life.

You can follow my books on Amazon by clicking ‘follow this author’ at the end of any of them and I hope you like them enough to want to do it.

Oh, and the bits about bondage, domination and submission are entirely figments of my imagination. Luckily for me, most people never realise how warped and twisted that imagination is. I’ve even managed to con people into thinking I’m sweet-natured and nice, and I am, unless they make it necessary for me not to be.

I  also write gentler, less sexy and definitely cosy mysteries, romances and paranormal mysteries under the name of Tia Brown. You can find those on Amazon, and why not follow me as an author while you're there? My  main blog, where I do my best to blog twice a week is 'Tia's Simple Pleasures' and it lists the weekly special offers.

I like to keep the brands separate to make sure that I won’t shock anyone, but whatever I write, I firmly believe in happy beginnings as long as you can work out who you are and what you want and are prepared to work hard to get it. It also helps if you can ignore all the people who seem to be convinced that they know what you ought to be doing and saying and thinking, but that’s still a work in progress.
